Yes, our article is taking a broader overview, but it does depend on whether the proofreader is communicating changes directly to the author or typesetter/publisher and whether they are using tracked changes in Word or another form of markup, including proofreaders’ marks. And certainly the proofreader will need to look out for regional variations when they are making spelling corrections.

Also Americanisms such as z’s instead of the s in capitalisation and organisation.
